Special Bulletin 119 – PRODUCE THEFTS, RUBBISH-DUMPING & SITE SECURITY

Sadly, we have found it necessary to revisit these subjects in a new Special Bulletin.

As a committee, we are disappointed that produce theft and rubbish dumping are still occurring. We had hoped that these problems had stopped, but clearly this is not the case.

The Committee will continue to do its very best, working in conjunction with our local police, to curtail the activities of the few who are spoiling the growing community spirit for everyone.

We hope that all tenants who respect the rules and uphold the standards expected of a good community will fully support our actions.

A trio of Minutes!!!

A busy month for Meeting Minutes!

  • Minutes of the recent Monthly Meeting – Steve Cook, one of our on-site beekeepers, gave a fascinating and entertaining talk about bees and what goes on behind the fencing panels at the bottom of the allotment site, near the rear gate. I learnt even more about bees! Many thanks also to Wendy Wilkinson, the Association Secretary, who managed to capture all of Steve’s talk in these very detailed minutes. Well done, Wendy!

————-

On Wednesday 11 November 2026, to commemorate Armistice Day, members of the Town Council and the Royal British Legion will be gathering to observe a two-minute silence at 11 o’clock at the Woodley War Memorial in the Memorial Recreation Ground, Headley Road, together with members of the public and other organisations that may wish to attend.

We are writing to your organisation as in the past you have attended, or you are an organisation which has links to the Council. As always, representatives from local organisations are welcome to attend. If you do intend to send representatives, then we are asking everyone to arrive by 10:45am so that we are all in place before the bugler plays the Last Post prior to the two-minute silence.

Wreaths will be also placed on the war memorial by the Town Council, the Royal British Legion, local organisations and community groups, and any other individuals who wish to do so. If you would like a wreath to be laid on behalf of your organisation, then please let me know so I can add you to our list of wreath layers. Wreaths can be ordered from the Royal British Legion:

www.britishlegion.org.uk/get-involved/ways-to-give/shop/wreaths

Please note that wreaths should be ordered ASAP to ensure delivery before Armistice Day. We do ask that any groups laying wreaths are limited to no more than 6 people, due to space limitations in the wreath laying queue, though there is no limit to numbers for general attendance.

A community event is also being arranged to take place at the War Memorial on Remembrance Sunday. This event is not being organised by the Town Council, but residents are obviously more than welcome to attend either or both events as they see fit.

For information, filming and photography will take place at the Armistice Day event, and will be shared publicly on the Town Council website and social media channels. By attending the event, individuals agree to being filmed and / or photographed.

I look forward to hearing from you, and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
